Waynesboro residents began weighing in on a proposed stormwater fee this week that, if passed, will go into effect in 2016. Under the proposal, which was developed by the Stormwater and Flood Control Control Commission and a Citizen Advisory Committee, the City will charge homeowners with a 1,600-3,000 sq ft home $3.42 per month, with those over 3,000 sq ft paying $6.84. Larger multi-unit developments would have a cap at $10,000 per year. Several news agencies have published more details about the proposed plan, including NBC 29 and The News Virginian. Documents and presentations from the Stormwater and Flood Control Commission can be found on the City’s website.
