Zaxby’s Restaurant

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Looking to capitalize on a highly visible location on busy US Highway 29 (Emmet Street) in the City of Charlottesville, we were hired to design a site plan for a new Zaxby's restaurant. Our familiarity with Charlottesville's requirements and the community-at-large were instrumental in overcoming two challenges related to the desired lot.   First, we helped the developer obtain a Special Use Permit for a drive-thru window by participating in community meetings, attending planning commission meetings, and working with City staff to address public concerns and comments.   Second, our firm developed a site plan for this narrow lot that not only met the City's setback requirements but also provided Zaxby's with their desired number of parking spaces and a drive-thru lane.   We also developed preliminary and final site plans that showed the phased removal of the existing restaurant, layout of pedestrian routes, code-compliant landscaping, dumpster enclosures, and new utility services.   Services: Site/Civil Engineering Surveying Utility Locating and Mapping[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]...

Libbie Mill Office Building

[vc_row content_aligment="center"][vc_column][vc_column_text] Draper Aden Associates provided structural engineering services for a 48,000 SF, 2-story building with 19,000 SF of retail occupancy at the first floor and 24,000 SF of office use above. The first floor features a breezeway “arcade” through the building, with storefront facing that space. The construction features structural steel framing, composite steel beams at the second floor and open web steel joists at the roof. Foundations are reinforced concrete spread footings. East End Theater Commercial Space and Apartments

[vc_row content_aligment="center"][vc_column][vc_column_text] Draper Aden Associates helped to preserve a community landmark through work on the neglected East End Theater in Richmond’s historical Church Hill neighborhood. We handled the structural engineering needs for the renovation as well as the expansion.   Since no documentation was available for the building, Draper Aden Associates utilized new technology to create an interactive building information model (BIM) for the structure. This scanning technology was critical to the project because it showed that, although the roof was gone, the roof framing could still be used, saving the developer $100,000 and making the renovation more feasible.   The firm utilized self-supporting floors in order to create commercial space and two floors of apartments. Stone Brewing Company Brewery and Tap Room

[vc_row content_aligment="center"][vc_column][vc_column_text] In collaboration with Hourigan Construction, Draper Aden Associates provided the structural design and construction documents for a 200,000 SF brewery with 100,000 SF production facility and 100,000 SF distribution facility. Included within the production facility is approximately 10,000 SF of office/retail space on 2-stories and a 15,000 SF brewing mezzanine specifically designed to accommodate the conical tank openings. The building framing is standard steel construction consisting of steel columns, wide flange steel beam girders, and open web steel bar joists with steel beams at specific locations for support of equipment.   Additional structural design for Stone Brewing included design and details for the installation and bracing of the malt conveyor, pipe bridges for process piping, malt mezzanine, and attachment of the process tanks to the base plates on the brewing mezzanine. Smith’s Landing Development

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]In coordination with the client’s architect, Draper Aden provided conceptual design through limited construction phase services for a 13-acre redevelopment of an abandoned hotel site into a new mixed-use development of multi-family and commercial uses. The construction documents included site demolition, erosion and sediment control and grading, utility, and landscaping plans to the Town of Blacksburg standards.
