Segra Stadium and Entertainment Venue, Now in Full Swing

Prior to the grand opening of Segra Stadium, now home to Minor League Baseball team, the Fayetteville Woodpeckers, the City of Fayetteville embarked on a project to bring the minor league baseball team to the City. Bringing the baseball stadium and entertainment venue to Fayetteville has been an economic home run. Exciting opportunities are being created, spawning more economic development in the area.       Draper Aden Associates was hired by Populous, an Architectural Firm headquartered in Kansas City, MO, to design site-related improvements including grading, storm drainage, water distribution, and sanitary sewer collection. Draper Aden also developed a drainage system to accommodate drainage from the baseball stadium and a proposed plaza development surrounding the stadium. With any significant project, challenges are expected to arise. Draper Aden experienced site-related complications during the design phase of the stadium. These challenges represented the placement of the stadium between two sets of railroad tracks, flooding issues,...

DAA Hosts its 3rd Annual Cornhole Challenge and Gives Back to Charity

At DAA, we don't just have fun to have fun; we have fun for a cause. We strive to partner with our community and help others through responsiveness, collaboration, respect and support, continuous improvement, and reliability. These five pillars drive our business and speak to the generosity of our time, resources, and authenticity. To create a Lasting Positive Impact is not just our slogan; it is our mission.   Last Friday, we held our 3rd Annual Cornhole Tournament, where employees were invited to indulge in cornhole competitions, intermingle with other departments, win prizes, and more. After launching the first event two years ago, we realized it could be something bigger than just gathering team members for an evening of fun. This event was an opportunity to help us to raise money for our corporate charity, the American Heart Association. With continued interested and historic high turnouts, we decided to raffle a 43” TV to...

Giving Back to Help Find a Cure for ALS

Leaving a lasting, positive impact is more than our mission. It also applies to more than our projects and services. It represents the ethos of our firm and drives us to do more for those in the communities we serve. A tangible example of our firm’s commitment to this philosophy was evident at Princess Anne Country Club in Virginia Beach on May 20, 2019.   On that day, Draper Aden Associates donated $10,000 to the Virginia Gentlemen Foundation at the group’s invitational golf tournament. This philanthropic support will help the Foundation in its mission to raise awareness and funds to find a cure for ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease.   The Virginia Gentlemen Foundation is a home-grown nonprofit that was founded in Virginia Beach in 2007. For over a decade, the organization has rallied the community and the region in many ways, quickly becoming a leading fundraiser for the National ALS Society...

Letter from Our CEO Regarding Last Week’s Tragedy in Virginia Beach

June 4, 2019   Dear Friends of Draper Aden Associates:   The events that occurred in Virginia Beach on Friday are horrific and incredibly disheartening.  The Engineers’ Creed states that we will place “the public welfare above all other considerations.”  As an individual who has spent all 44 years of his career trying to uphold this standard, I am at a loss that this type of tragedy has befallen the engineering community and the City of Virginia Beach.   Although it is difficult to know what to do at a time like this, there is no doubt that the victims leave behind families and loved ones who will suffer financial burdens in the future.  The United Way of Hampton Roads has set up a fund to receive money for the victims’ loved ones. Donations can be made at https://unitedwayshr.org/vabeach/. Additionally, the City of Virginia Beach has created a website detailing the upcoming Memorial Services and Volunteer...
